Media and Collaborations
I’m Peta Hooke, the creator and host of The I Can’t Stand Podcast, an Australian interview podcast focused on disability, culture, and lived experience.
Through the podcast and my broader work, I collaborate with journalists, media outlets, organisations, and creatives who want informed, respectful conversations about disability without inspiration tropes or tokenism.
What I do
Podcast host
I host long form interviews with disabled people, advocates, creatives, and public figures. Conversations explore disability as part of a whole life, not a defining storyline.
Media contributor
I am available for media commentary, interviews, and features on disability, access, representation, and lived experience.
Speaking and panels
I speak at events, panels, and conferences on disability, media representation, allyship, and lived experience.
Consultation and collaboration
I work with organisations, creatives, and brands on projects involving disability, access, and representation, including advisory and content collaboration.
Who this is for
• Journalists and producers
• Media outlets
• Event organisers and conferences
• Organisations and brands seeking lived experience insight
If you are unsure whether your enquiry is a fit, you are welcome to ask.
Why my work is credible
I have hosted The I Can’t Stand Podcast for several years, building a substantial catalogue of in depth conversations and an engaged audience.
I live with cerebral palsy, and my lived experience informs conversations across the podcast, which explores disability in Australia, and throughout the world, through long form interviews spanning many conditions, identities, and experiences.
I understand the importance of language, framing, and intent, and I do not participate in tokenistic or inspiration based storytelling.
